WHAT TO SEE IN AMARILLO
Amarillo is the largest city in Texas to be located on the route of the historic Route 66. The most evident traces of Route 66 can be found at the Big Texan Steak Ranch (which we will discuss in the next sections) and at the famous Cadillac Ranch. The latter is a monumental sculpture consisting of a row of ten scrapped Cadillacs, arranged to give the impression of being planted in the ground. This monument is also the title of a song by Bruce Springsteen. It will be fun to take some photos.
If you are a fan of country clothing, I recommend stopping at Cavender's: a huge themed store. Here you can find cowboy boots, shirts, vests, jeans, and all kinds of accessories. The very kind staff will help you with your choices. However, don't overdo it with your purchases as the store will not be able to ship the goods to Italy. You will therefore have to carry everything you buy with you, and there is still a bit of road ahead......
