In Magome there are only ryokan, traditional Japanese inns. I suggest you stay at Tajimaya. The very friendly owner will welcome you and show you to your traditional room, which consists of two separate areas: the living room and the bedroom. You will sleep on a futon and share the bathroom with other guests. Dinner will be served early in the common dining room. Here too, a yukata will be provided in your room to wear for dinner. After dinner, don't miss the chance to take a walk on the Nakasendo in your yukata: you'll feel like a real Japanese from the old days! When you return to the ryokan, a samurai dance lesson awaits you. The owner will explain all the steps to follow and, in a circle with the other guests, you will try your hand at this fun and easy dance. At the end, you will be offered some sake. The next day, a traditional Japanese breakfast awaits you. Upon departure, you will also receive a certificate for completing the samurai dance course. What fun!
