ROMAGNA MIA, ALTERNATIVE!
We all know Romagna and appreciate its many qualities. However, there is a common stereotype and when you say "Romagna" you immediately think of the big 3-star hotels by the sea with full board.
With this article, I would like to show you how much more there is in Romagna: exclusive places at affordable prices, different experiences discovering the hinterland and its excellences.
And then my buen retiro where every year, and sometimes even more than once a year, I go to retreat to relax and always find the impeccable hospitality of my "friend" Edio.
At Edio's, at the b&b Ghetto Conca, I ended up there by chance, a few years ago now, but since then I haven't been able to tear myself away from it.
How could I stay in a big hotel (where they serve me cappuccino from a coin-operated machine) when every morning I find a delicious and carefully prepared table full of homemade treats, different every day. Sweet and savory muffins, home made pastries, seasonal fruit sometimes coming directly from the home garden, local cold cuts and cheeses, all served professionally by a true "doc" Romagnolo always ready to give advice and entertain you discreetly.
The rooms (only 3 to guarantee maximum tranquility) are splendid (the photos speak for themselves), very well cared for, spotless and immersed in a quiet and peaceful countryside overlooking the Conca river basin, a nature reserve. The sea is only 10 minutes away by car, easily reachable also by bicycle via the cycle path just a stone's throw from the b&b.
If you want to take a day off from the sea and the beach, sometimes it's nice to change things up..., you can lounge by the splendid white stone pool in Noto, a mere 82 meters long (the second largest private pool in Europe) at the Riviera Golf Resort. If you are a golf lover, you can have fun playing a few holes and, at sunset, enjoy an aperitif or a romantic dinner by the pool.
For those, like me, who don't appreciate full board but love being able to choose where to dine every day, Romagna offers countless options including an aperitif in the vineyard. Yes, there are vineyards in Romagna too! If you want to experience it firsthand, you must try an aperitif at the Enio Ottaviani winery.
The delicious and fine wines from the winery are served in a beautiful and bucolic setting among the vineyards, accompanied by a very varied selection of absolutely mouthwatering local products! The owner of the winery will be sure to come and greet you and entertain you with immense courtesy; after all, the winery's motto is: "we make wine for friends!"
Finally, for a special evening, in a chestnut forest in the nearby hinterland, a splendid chalet awaits you, or rather a cabin: Baita la Tiperia.
The location is very unusual, but truly fascinating. Unique in its kind, it will amaze you not only for the refinement of its spaces and furnishings, but also for its cuisine and wines. For a romantic evening, don't forget to ask if you can dine inside the characteristic "egg" structures.
And here concludes my excursus on My Romagna, alternative! hoping it can be for you a new perspective on this splendid land that deserves to be valued and discovered also in a new light.
