If you are staying at the Hakone Kogen Hotel and don't feel like going far, I recommend having dinner at the Izakaya suggested by the hotel. It is located just beyond the cable car that leads to Owakudani. The owners are also available to pick you up and take you back to the hotel with their car (this will allow you to drink alcohol and avoid having to drive). In Hakone, stop to taste the meat and steamed vegetable dishes at the Hakone Hakakura restaurant located in front of parking lot 11 where you will find the tax-free shop. If you are missing home, treat yourself to an excellent pizza at 808 Monsmare near Hakone-Yumoto. After your pizza, I recommend taking a tour of the lively station district and sampling the excellent Sugi Bee products made with honey and yuzu (Japanese lemon).
