WHERE TO SLEEP AND EAT IN ALAMOGORDO
For the Alamogordo stop, my choice couldn't have been better! I immediately fell in love with the Tavares Inn. If I could, I would go back tomorrow.....
It is a very beautiful farmhouse owned by a middle-aged couple, very hospitable. The rooms are very spacious and well furnished, equipped with a private en-suite bathroom and a balcony to admire the surrounding landscape. The house has an indoor pool located in the center of the property, completely and totally available to guests 24 hours a day. Around the pool there is a dining room with a beer tap that you can freely use. I recommend, after returning in the evening from White Sands, to organize yourself by making a small purchase at the gas station you find outside the park and to have dinner between dips in the pool while sipping excellent cold beer! What a fantastic evening!
The next morning, the very kind Mr. and Mrs. Tavares will wake you up with a sweet pre-breakfast of excellent and fresh watermelon accompanied by whipped cream. This will be followed, in the dining room, by breakfast freshly prepared by Mrs. Tavares, who will amaze you with her delicacies.
I almost forgot...in the house you will find, to keep you company, a hawk (absolutely harmless) and a very funny parrot with whom you can have a pleasant conversation.
