MOTORCYCLE RENTAL
Since the motorcycle is the main protagonist of this tour, I think it's useful to dedicate a brief section to rental.
The most important motorcycle rental provider in the USA is Eagle Rider. You can rent a motorcycle throughout the United States, and you can also decide to do a drop off different from the pick up and therefore return the motorcycle in a different city from where you picked it up (obviously at a higher cost).
The rental can be done directly online or you can go to one of the Eagle Rider offices in Italy, located only in Milan and Rome.
The procedure is very simple and guided. After entering the pick-up and drop-off cities and the rental dates, you will need to choose the motorcycle model you like best and the insurance coverage you prefer.
The website mostly features Harley Davidson models, but BMW, Yamaha, Honda, Indian models are also available....
Personally, I recommend choosing a Harley Davidson: we are in the USA, so who better than an HD can make you dream as you ride along the spectacular American roads....
As for luggage, I would like to point out that Eagle Rider offers the possibility to store your luggage for free at their office for the entire duration of the rental.
The helmet for rider and passenger is included in the rental price. I suggest, if you decide to use them, to bring some bandanas to use as under-helmets for hygiene reasons.
