For the stop in Alamogordo, my choice could not have been more appropriate! I immediately fell in love with the Tavares Inn. If I could, I would go back tomorrow ..... It is a very nice farmhouse owned by a middle-aged couple, very hospitable. The rooms are very large and well furnished with private en-suite bathroom and balcony to admire the surrounding landscape. The house has an indoor swimming pool which is located in the center of the building, and available to guests 24 hours a day. Around the pool, there is a dining room and a beer stapler that you can freely use. I advise you, returning in the evening from White Sands, to have a small shopping at the gas station you find outside the park and to have dinner in the pool between one dip and another while sipping excellent frozen beer! What a fantastic evening! The next day the nice Mrs. Tavares will wake you up with a sweet pre-breakfast with excellent and fresh watermelon accompanied by whipped cream. Then, in the dining room, Mrs. Tavares will prepare breakfast and she will amaze you with her delicacies. I forgot ... in the house, you will find, to keep you in good company, a falcon (absolutely harmless) and a very nice parrot with whom you can entertain yourself in a cheerful conversation.
